EFT Tapping

EFT Tapping

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also called tapping, is a percussive acupressure technique used to improve mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

How does EFT work?

Our Bachelor-trained Counsellor uses tapping techniques as a way to move negative emotions connected to trauma, life experiences and negative events. It’s used alongside talk therapies to change the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system is also referred to as fight-or-flight (sympathetic) and rest-&-digest (parasympathetic).

Stress, pain and trauma move us into a sympathetic state: you might experience a racing heart, feeling nervous and jittery, muscle tension or poor digestion. It’s normal to go in and out of this state but when we are permanently living in this on-edge state, it’s unhealthy and doesn’t allow the body to heal.

Kathleen started to incorporate tapping into her counselling sessions as she was frustrated with the slow progress of traditional talk therapy. She’s found that people are able to move through their concerns and see results faster by using tapping.

What can EFT or Tapping Help with?

  • Trauma

  • Pain management

  • Anxiety

  • Cravings

  • Phobias

  • Feeling stuck

  • Limiting beliefs about self and the world around you

  • Relationship issues

  • Postnatal stress

What to Expect in a Tapping Session?

During an EFT session, we focus on the negative emotions that are associated with what is going on for you. By focusing on these negative emotions we bring them to the forefront, we acknowledge them and then we gently tap on meridian points on the hands, face and chest whilst repeating phrases to remove the negative emotions from the body and the event. Therefore removing the negative impact they are having on your current everyday life.

Every session of EFT will be different depending on the emotions we are dealing with but with the combination of talk therapy and EFT it is expected that you will leave a session feeling freer of negative emotion than when you walked in.

Can Tapping be done via Telehealth?

Yes!

You’ll be guided through a tapping session on your video consultation. You’ll then have these tools at your disposal whenever the need arises.

Many people have expressed that they actually get quicker results using tapping via telehealth as they are in their own environment so feel more comfortable to dive deeper to the core of what is going on for them.

The great thing about telehealth is that you can do it from the comfort of your own home without wasting time jumping in the car.

Appointments available in Moonee Ponds or online.
